Program Structure & Curriculum
- There’s no prior experience is required to be enrolled in the Bootcamp
- The Bootcamp is 16 months of full-time on-campus training, followed by a 12-month sponsored work placement.
- The first 8 months of the boot camp, students will be focusing on the fundamentals of programming and software design patterns. This will start in Python and transition to Java.
- In the final 8 months of learning, students will cover brownfields and specialized electives.
- Applicants with prior programming experience start with Python basics. They are required to
complete a series of exercises, projects, and assessments designed to evaluate the level of technical
skills. This will also be followed by a group project and exam.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Anyone between the ages of 17 and 35 can apply to the WeThinkCode Bootcamp; they have to be available to study full-time for two years at one of the campuses in South Africa.
- No prior education or coding experience is required.
- WeThinkCode accepts foreign applicants with permanent residency in South Africa.
- An asylum seeker visa status or a valid work permit for three years, including two years of study and one year of work placement at a host employer.
Selection Process
The boot camp is a 6-day selection process where applicants are presented with problems to solve both as individuals and in teams. The assessment is designed for both those with prior coding experience as well as applicants who have never coded before. The applicants will be introduced to new concepts and evaluate their ability to grasp the concepts, and then apply them to solve problems. Top performers are then invited to enroll, while others might receive interview invites to assess further potential.

Umuzi
Umuzi is a South African digital learning academy that offers a 12-month, paid training programme that’s demand-driven and project-based. Selection Process
Applicants are required to submit their application, and after you will receive an aptitude test that you need to take. If your application is successful, Umuzi will invite successful applicants to work with them for a week or two to make a final selection. They may also invite you to take a 3-month online short course before you start their full-time programme. Once you’re done with the short course, you may get an
invite to an interview with an employer partner. The Final stage of the selection process is an invitation to start a full-time programme like a learnership, internship, or graduate programme.
